On-Site Engineer

Job summary

Due to expansion, we have an opportunity join our fantastic team of professionals as an On-Site Engineer based in a school in the Abingdon area.

Hours of work – Monday to Friday (8.00am to 5:00pm)

Working at one of our clients’ sites, to be the face of Connect Systems and the first point of contact for all IT issues. Assisting users face to face, over the phone or using the ticketing system in a professional, friendly and understanding manner.

The role is a varied one and is an ideal grounding for the right candidate who is interested in a career in IT support and services and who already has 1 to 2 years work experience in the IT industry. On the job training will be provided as well as opportunities to be involved with any infrastructure development projects.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A keen interest in computers, networks and technology
  • Experience in customer service
  • The ability to prioritise, working through a list of support calls in an organised and methodical manner
  • You will also be physically able to get around quite a large site with lots of stairs and corridors, sometimes carrying equipment
  • A can-do attitude and proven team working skills
  • A security focused mind-set
  • Enhanced DBS clearance is a prerequisite

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Supporting end users and providing basic training in the use of IT solutions
  • Carrying out regular checks – making sure all systems are online, backups are successful etc.
  • Managing and prioritising tickets
  • Escalating tickets to our service desk and on-site resources
  • Providing first line PC hardware and software support
  • Troubleshooting a wide variety of technical issues
  • Conducting basic network diagnostics
  • Creating and updating of IT documentation
  • Creation and amendments of user accounts
  • Maintenance of printers
  • Assisting with the implementations of new solutions and IT projects
  • Supporting end users and providing basic training in the use of the IT solutions
